Perfolection “From crumpled paper to...”
What is the perfolection about?
We discussed how trash can be more than just a pile of useless items lying around in a dumpster, but also material for building hotels, sewing clothes, producing furniture, and creating works of art.
Accompanying the lecture, various urban trash items were examined and transformed into something beautiful before the audience’s eyes.
Significance of the project
The perfo lecture was shown at the «Night at the Shipping Office» Media Arts Festival at the Shipping Office Multifunctional Center. The theme of the event was «trash and beauty.» It was timed to coincide with the nationwide «Night of Museums» event.
How did the action take place?
The art group KREATORZ conceived and directed a performance lecture, in which performers Tata Brylina and Sofia Mozhegorova participated.
While the lecture was being given, educational materials about upcycling and recycling were shown on one half of the screen, while the other half of the screen showed real-time macro footage of various street waste items, under different lighting conditions and with real-time digital effects overlaid on it. This helped to rethink the classic approach to street litter.
